It appears to be almost black, but when held up to a light the color is visible. This natural tourmaline crystal section has some very faint inclusions in about 70% of the piece, and about 30% is completely clean. Rather than cutting a smaller completely clean gem, it would also yield a single larger gem of about 3 carats with some very faint inclusions.

This dark green tourmaline appears to be almost black, but when held up to a light the rich green color is visible as shown in about 60% of the piece, and the remaining 40% has somewhat darker "forest green" color that is more brownish-green. This is a great collector specimen of gem grade blue-green tourmaline just as it is, although if cut into a faceted gem, it would yield a 20+ carat lightly included gem with fine medium blue-green color, or a 30 carat cabochon gem! It is naturally terminated, and it has flawless gem-grade transparency when illuminated. The prismatic faces and the terminations of this dark green tourmaline crystal are in very good condition.
